After killing the British, Captin Martin and his children burry his son Thomas.They then head to their aunt Charlotte's house in Charles Town where it will be safe, for the children. Gabriele leaves to go back to war, his father trys to stop him, but he still leaves. Then Captain Martin get ready and tell's his son Nathan to take care of his siblings. Captain Martin goes to find Gabriele, and they join a war together. When Captain Martin ask one of the Generals who's in charge, the general says himself. Then tell Captain Martin that General Gates is heading to Northeast. Captain Marin and Gabriele joins, then they split up.
Captain Martins returns to his burnt down home after he killed all of the British soldiers. When they got home they buried Thomas. They then traveled to the aunts house where they knew they would be safe. Captain Martins tucks in all the kids and they go to sleep. Captain Martins sits by the fireplace when Gabriel tells him that he is going back to war. Gabriel leaves and Captain Martins goes after him to stop him from going back to the war. Gabriel went into a house that he saw must have been invaded, and he went upstairs. Upstairs, he looked out the window to see that the war was going on in that backyard. He turns around to get ready to leave when he sees that his father is there. Gabriel tells his father he is not going to go back to the war.
Captain Martin goes back to his house and sees the damage that the British soldiers had done. Once he got back to the house, he took the rest of his children and they went to bury Thomas and pray. Gabriel wants to go back to war, but Captain Martin tries to convince him to stay. Gabriel went into a house and went upstairs and looked out the window. Looking out the window, he watched the war and many soldiers get killed. Then he turns to his father and tells him he's not going to war anymore.
Since thomas died they found a way to bury him next to his mother and prays they watch over them. Captain martin has joined the army and is now going to be fighting for freedom with his oldest son. He left his children with there aunt. The armies general left to fight for the other side. Both father and son split up in charlestown .

After that Gabriel headed outside of the house and his father chased after him trying to tell him that he was forebidden to go back into war. His attempts to stop his son failed and Gabriel left on his high horse and was out. Captain Martin decides to go with his son into war and follows after him. They enter a house that stands right in front of where the battle was taking place and they both witnessed the colonists go down in battle and retreat. They go together and Captain Martin and his son split up in Charleston so that they could reach more ground and prepare everyone for war. Captain Martin tells his son to be careful, Gabriel says "yes sir" and they both head their separate ways.

The martins decided to move into their aunts house cause they dont have a house since it got burned down. the two younger boys where efffect badly by the actions they did(killing the soldiers). captin martin feels badly about it. william tavington finds out that their was only one guy who killed all of his soldiers.
Gabriel goes to fight in the war and doesnt listen to his father. Captain felt bad and didnt know what to do. The british won the war because they didnt listen to Captain. The british had a great dane for the dog. The little boys were greatly affected and didnt know how to deal with his familys loss.
